Born in 1950, in Raleigh, North Carolina and raised in his early years during the '50's in the nearby town of Garner, North Carolina.  In 1960 during the era of "Jim Crow" segregationist policies of the South; these experiences caused him, at an early age to focus much attention on societal ills, racial discord, American politics and the very meaning of EDUCATION itself.
